Portfolio Entertainment
Founded in 1991, Toronto-based Portfolio Entertainment is one of Canada’s leading independent producers and distributors of bold, award-winning Television programs for kids, teens and adults including the current hit series Carl ², and RoboRoach. Co-founders and presidents, Lisa Olfman and Joy Rosen, are the recipients of the 2003 Rotman Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Export Excellence, were featured in Animation Magazine’s 25 Rising Women in Animation and each year are ranked in Profit Magazine’s list of Canada’s Top 100 women entrepreneurs. Aron has turned several years of development and a lifetime of playing videogames into a dream job.
While it may look like he’s playing games on company time, Aron is actually responsible for the acquisition of new intellectual properties and their management through the development process. He works closely with Portfolio’s executive and creative teams to craft shows with universal appeal, while incorporating a high level of interactivity to enhance the audience’s engagement. He is also responsible for extending Portfolio’s brands into multiple platforms.
While a comprehensive knowledge of programming trends and a formidable rolodex of broadcaster contacts is vital, Aron feels that recognizing and championing talent is what gets great shows on television. Needless to say, Aron’s screen never reads: “Game Over”. Aron has previously held positions with Sullivan Entertainment and Slanted Wheel Entertainment.
The Perfect Pitch:
Be confident but accessible. Believe in your project and be passionate about it. If your nervous, its okay it shows the project is important to you. If its not for us, don't say you can make it fit for us. And, above all, don't read your pitch sheet verbatim. I can do that for myself.
